The Chapel Choir has a rich tradition Big Canoe Chapel's Choir first sang on Easter Sunday in 1984 with eight members under the direction of Margaret Chester. The Senior Chaplain was Dr. Vernon Broyles, and his wife Eloise was the pianist. In 1998 Reverend Lamar Helms became the Choir's second director.
The Chapel Choir is made up of approximately 65 volunteer singers who rehearse two Thursday evenings each month and sing for the 9:00 and 10:30 Sunday Morning Worship Services on the First and Third Sundays of each month. They also sing on Festival Sundays of the Church Year, including Easter, Christmas, and Pentecost, as well as for special events and performances. While the choir always welcomes new members, optimal times to join are January and June, since new seasonal music is always introduced in those months. Prospects for the choir are asked to contact Lamar Helms, Director, or contact the Chapel office at (706) 268-3203.
There are no auditions, but singers should be able to sight-read music. The Choir performs classical and traditional church music literature, as well as Gospel, hymn, and Spiritual arrangements, attempting to achieve a balance in musical styles while supporting the written and spoken Word. But first and foremost, it is the mission of the Chapel Choir to proclaim through music the infinite grace of God given to us through the gift of His Son Jesus. The Men's Chorus The Men's Chorus is made up of approximately 25 volunteer singing men who rehearse once each month and sing for both the 9:00 and 10:30 Sunday Morning Worship Services on the Second Sunday of the month. There are no auditions; it's just men who want to sing and have fun doing so. The Men's Chorus performs varied styles of church music, from traditional church music, gospel and hymn arrangements, to spirituals. Our goal is twofold: to share the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ with all those who hear us sing, and to support the written and spoken Word. In our singing, we become a close-knit community of men who care for the physical and spiritual welfare of our community at large. The Men's Chorus always welcomes new members. Prospective singers are asked to contact Director Sam Holmes at Stand Around or through the Chapel Office at (706) 268-3203. The Bella Voce Women's Chorus Director Nancy McDonald Smith encourages all women in Big Canoe to share their musical talents in preparing for future community concerts featuring aspectrum of sacred and secular works for women's voices. The group meets on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. in McCormick Hall (the lower level of the Broyles Community Center).

Handbell Choir
Under the direction of Ann Montgomery, the Big Canoe Chapel handbell choir was organized in June of 2007 and currently consists of 13 ringers. The choir's goal is to enjoy promoting the ringing of handbells, foster fun and fellowship, and enhance the music worship experience at the Chapel. The choir is diverse in its ringing experience; some had never run handbells before, and others have 20-plus years experience! The bell choir meets twice each month each month and during December performed at Wildwood Academy and during worship services at the Chapel.
More information about the Handbell Choir may be obtained by contacting Ann Montgomery through the Chapel Office at (706) 268-3203.
