Dinner Eight - A Great Way to Get Acquainted!
|
| Enjoying good food and fellowship are (l to r) Gary and Becky Duryea, Martha and Dick Elkins, David and Melinda Wesseling, Betty Jo and Tom Isherwood. |
A great way to get to know people in our community is to spend time together at the dinner table. Dinner Eight attempts to meet that need by grouping those who sign up for once-a-month informal dinners.
Each group decides on the dinner date and dining place. Some meet in homes and bring dishes to share; others eat out at restaurants. Groups are organized every four months.
Dinner Eight was introduced here in Big Canoe about twenty years ago by Betsy Cook, Chaplain Vernon Broyles' niece, as a way for residents to meet and get to know their neighbors.
Big Canoe Dinner 8 groups are organized in January, May, and September. Plan to sign up at Sunday morning Stand Around or at the Postal Facility. Dick and Martha Elkins have served as Dinner Eight coordinators for the past seven years. If you would like to learn more about Dinner Eight, call them at 706-268-2061 or email Martha at
